Dwight Thomas

Dedicated to transforming lives through education and community support, Dwight Thomas is a seasoned professional with a Master’s degree in Social Work, bringing over a decade of leadership and management experience to the realm of education and social services. Dwight embarked on his career in the challenging and rewarding eld of social work, initially focusing on direct practice within the foster care system
with JCCA, one of the largest foster care organizations in New York City. Through a commitment to excellence, he swiftly ascended to leadership roles, eventually spearheading professional development initiatives in the foster care sector, honing their skills in nurturing both individuals and systems.

With a passion for creating positive change on a broader scale, Dwight transitioned to community-based organizations in New York City. Here, he meticulously managed DYCD grant-funded programs targeting children and adults in low-income communities. This hands-on experience allowed Dwight to develop a deep understanding of the intersectionality of social work, education, and community development. Recognizing the pivotal role education plays in shaping futures, Dwight transitioned seamlessly into the education sector. He served as the Director of School Culture at Windsor Terrace Middle School with Prospect Schools, implementing strategies that fostered positive environments within individual schools. Earning accolades for his transformative impact, Dwight further elevated his inuence by assuming the role of
Network Director of School Culture at the district level. In this capacity, he effectively managed directors, establishing exemplary school cultures and crafting a cohesive strategy for fostering positive environments across the entire organization.

Continuing his trajectory of educational leadership, Dwight assumed the role of Network Director of Student Experience and Support Services within the same organization. Here, he oversaw a comprehensive range of services aimed at enhancing the overall student experience, ensuring that every student received the support needed for academic success and personal growth. While surviving in these various roles Dwight also worked with large organizations such as the Administration for Children Services and the diverse charter school coalition as a consultant leading DEI professional development and creating resources focused on anti-racist practices within the sector.

Currently serving as the Chief Student Services Ofcer at Northside Charter High School, Dwight brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role. His visionary leadership style and commitment to student well-being make them an invaluable asset to the educational community. Dwight remains dedicated to creating an inclusive and empowering educational environment, where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
