Dear Equality Families,I have been at a loss for words this past week when the Buffalo supermarket shooting occurred and now yesterday the tragic school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas has happened. Both tragic events have impacted us all, and we continue to hear other news of violence in our city, state and country every day. Like many of you, the ongoing violence in our country and our world has been hard to process and I have struggled to understand it and move forward. What gives me hope is that Equality's community has a strong spirit and has always been resilient; our community motivates me to keep moving forward. We must go through it together with the same strength and compassion that we have found together in the past.I want our families to know that the safety of our scholars and staff is our top priority and that Equality has a comprehensive school safety plan in place that is reviewed, practiced and updated annually. We conduct multiple safety drills a year.We also understand that our scholars and staff may need additional support during this time Our counselors and mental health professionals are here to help. Our hearts are with the Buffalo and Uvalde communities today.Caitlin FrancoExecutive Director & Founder ... See MoreSee Less
