Equality offers several extra-curricular activities. This includes eight sports teams: co-ed basketball, girls' basketball, boys' basketball, track, flag football, cheerleading, soccer, and volleyball. We also have afterschool music and typing classes. Scholars may also choose to be involved in our Book Club or our Mathletes team, or they can participate in small group tutoring sessions.
Mathletes
We offer an advanced Mathletes team to challenge our scholars. During the 2010-2011 school year, Equality's Math Scholars, along with thousands of other scholars, participated in the 14th annual Pi Day Contest hosted at Suffolk County Community College. Our scholars placed 2nd and 3rd out of thousands of scholars in two categories!
Book Club
Book Club is an advanced reading group. We offer one book club for each grade level. During this time, scholars will meet to read and discuss advanced level books and push their thinking.
Extra Support for ELA & Math
For scholars who need extra support, we will have math and ELA support classes, along with 1:1 and small group tutoring. Scholars will receive this support during lunch/recess and afterschool when needed.
Living Environment Regents Prep
A select group of 8th grade scholars will also be invited to join our Living Environment Regents prep course. This preparation is in order for them to take the high school Regents at the end of 8th grade.
We are thrilled to offer the following sports teams at Equality:
During the 2010-2011 school year, our soccer team won 2nd place in the NYC Charter Schools Athletic Association! Congratulations!
Typing
Equality has a brand new computer lab. Interested scholars can sign up for afterschool typing classes in either the fall or spring.
Music Class
There is an afterschool Music Course offered twice a week. This course will focus on music appreciation as well as teaching scholars how to use several instruments.
